The Municipality of Wrocław commissioned six train pairs from the carrier, which will serve the morning and afternoon rush hours in Wrocław from Monday to Friday.

– We are creating a railway system accessible to residents. Trains are a remedy for traffic jams in the city. Thousands of Lower Silesian residents commute from Kąty Wrocławskie, Jelcz-Laskowice and Oleśnica to work, school or university on trains organized by the regional government in cooperation with mayors, village heads and county executives – says Paweł Gancarz, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

The City of Wrocław contributes more to the costs of launching trains than any other municipal, city or county government.

– The new rail connections are a response to requests from Swojczyce residents. The Wrocław City Council approved the transfer of financial support to the voivodeship. As a result, we will provide more than PLN 1.8 million to improve residents’ travel comfort while this major investment is being carried out – says Renata Granowska, Deputy Mayor of Wrocław.

Trains will depart from suburban Dobrzykowice Wrocławskie in the morning toward Wrocław Nadodrze station at 05:59, 07:26 and 08:51; the last service will continue to Wrocław Główny. Return services in the afternoon are scheduled for 14:35 (from Wrocław Główny), 16:15 and 18:31 (from Wrocław Nadodrze).

– Cooperation between local governments is the key to efficient transport in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The Wrocław Municipal Office commissioned additional train pairs on a railway line that allows us to reach the city center by train within a dozen or so minutes – says Michał Rado, Deputy Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship responsible, among other things, for rail transport.

In addition to the connections from Dobrzykowice to Wrocław Nadodrze, the line will continue to be served by several dozen train pairs daily on the route from Jelcz-Laskowice through Chrząstawa to Wrocław Główny. Within the city limits of Wrocław, passengers can use them with a city ticket valid for more than 24 hours.

Closures in the mountains

Mountain hikers, as well as people using trains to travel to work or school in the Sudetes, will face numerous works planned by Polskie Linie Kolejowe. At various times, the following sections will be closed:

  • from Polanica-Zdrój to Kudowa-Zdrój;
  • from Jelenia Góra to Szklarska Poręba Górna;
  • from Międzylesie to Lichkov;
  • from Szklarska Poręba Górna to the Czech town of Tanvald.

Construction of the track between Wrocław Zakrzów and Trzebnica is also under way; there too, replacement buses will operate until mid-June.

On the Polanica-Zdrój–Kudowa-Zdrój section, the closure will last as long as six months between March and October. This continues the work carried out in 2024 and 2025, when travel time from Kudowa-Zdrój to Wrocław was reduced to two hours, and from Kłodzko to Wrocław to one hour. At that time, the unrepaired section from Polanica to Kudowa-Zdrój was left out; it will be worked on this spring.

Between Jelenia Góra and Szklarska Poręba Górna, PLK plans to build at least two additional passing loops, which will improve capacity on the line. The work will be carried out in spring and autumn so that Szklarska Poręba can be reached by train during the summer holidays. The closure between Jelenia Góra and Szklarska Poręba is scheduled from 7 April to 13 June.

A shorter closure awaits us on the border section from Międzylesie to the Czech town of Lichkov. Trains will not run there for only five days, from 16 to 20 March, and only between 7:10 and 17:00. Replacement buses will operate on this several-kilometer section for some trains operated by both Koleje Dolnośląskie and Intercity (Baltic Express).

The Czech infrastructure manager will also carry out work on the Szklarska Poręba–Liberec line. This is a continuation of track maintenance following last year’s renovation of the line. The Czech-side work is scheduled from 26 April to 15 May.

Small changes everywhere

As is often the case with a timetable adjustment, changes of several or a dozen minutes affect many trains. Therefore, before traveling on Sunday, 8 March, or the following Monday, it is worth checking what time our train to university, work or school departs.

Additional train pairs may also appear on the lines. For example, from Brzeg in Opole Voivodeship, via Oława, we can reach Wrocław Główny on an additional train departing Brzeg at 05:25 and arriving at the largest station in Lower Silesia at 06:00.

Timetables can be checked in the app or on the Portal Pasażera website, or at kolejedolnoslaskie.pl.
