The smartENT project is being implemented by VON GmbH (a subsidiary of the Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Ostsachsen association) in cooperation with Koleje Dolnośląskie S.A. and the Institute of Territorial Development.
– Cross-border mobility is playing an increasingly important role in European integration and the socio-economic development of border regions – notes Bartłomiej Rodak, press spokesperson for Koleje Dolnośląskie. – Despite many achievements, residents and travellers still encounter barriers related to the organisation of transport, fare differences and the limitations of public transport systems. Through cooperation between partners from Poland and Saxony, the smartENT project is helping to develop passenger-friendly solutions.
The workshops will be attended by representatives of central and local government, institutions responsible for implementing European programmes, the European Commission, and organisers and operators of public collective transport. Experts and cross-border cooperation partners from Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic are also involved in the event. The programme includes a conference session and a study visit.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to present the project’s results to date, exchange experiences and discuss the future of integrated mobility in the Neisse Euroregion. Particular attention will be devoted to developing the EURO-NYSA-Ticket+ (ENT+), which has enabled convenient public transport travel in the tri-border area of Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic since 2004.
During the workshops, participants will discuss, among other things:
- the political, legal and organisational conditions necessary for the further development of the EURO-NYSA-Ticket+ and cross-border transport services;
- the possibilities of using EU funds to introduce mobility solutions;
- directions for developing cooperation and financing transport projects in the next EU financial perspective.
The smartENT project has been implemented since 1 January 2025. Its main objective is to develop integrated public transport services and improve cross-border mobility in the border area of Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. It is a continuation of the successfully completed ENT future 2020 project, implemented along the German-Czech border. The project is developing the EURO-NYSA-Ticket+ system, which has been operating for more than twenty years. The initiative is co-financed by the Interreg Poland – Saxony 2021–2027 Cooperation Programme.
