On 23 February 2026, at around 5:20 a.m., police officers received a report that the driver of a Mazda had driven through the main entrance of one of the hotels in Karpacz, damaging the doors, and then left the scene.

Officers quickly spotted the vehicle in one of the car parks. When he saw the uniformed officers, the driver began behaving nervously, then set off, hit a police car and attempted to flee.

The police immediately set off after him, using visual and audible signals. After driving approximately 1.5 kilometres, the man was detained.

Officers: – It turned out to be a 36-year-old citizen of England. He was visibly agitated, and a preliminary drug test showed that he may have been under the influence of intoxicants. Police officers also found psychoactive substances in his vehicle.

The foreign national was placed in police custody. Procedural activities and the collection of evidence are ongoing. He will answer for his actions before the court. He may face up to 5 years in prison.
