Officers from Bolesławiec are recording further cases of fraud related to the purchase of heating fuel. People are reporting to the police station after being tempted by an attractive price, placing an order online and paying for it in advance. Unfortunately, the goods never arrived, and the seller stopped answering phone calls and messages.

One of the victims is a resident of Osiecznica municipality, who ordered heating fuel and transferred PLN 1,600 to the indicated account. When he contacted the company by phone the following day, he heard that it had not placed such an order. As it turned out, the scammers impersonated a legally operating company and provided a false bank account number for payment.

Police officers appeal for prudence and caution when shopping online:

Before making a payment:

  • Check the website’s credibility — pay attention to the web address, reviews from other users and the seller’s contact details.
  • Do not be guided solely by the low price — an exceptionally attractive offer may be an attempted fraud.
  • Avoid advance payments to unknown bank accounts.
  • Use only verified and reputable heating-fuel suppliers.

Remember — scammers often create professionally designed websites that disappear from the internet after receiving payment.
