Recently, we reported on an electrifying discovery in Lake Pilchowickie. In December last year, diver Marcel Korkuś not only found a submerged car there, but also a rifle and crates filled with ammunition.
The result? A bomb disposal operation began there on January 12. Some exceptional specialists were brought to the site—the Mine Divers Group of the 12th Minesweeper Squadron from Świnoujście. They faced an extremely difficult task because the lake was covered with ice. (The Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol, as well as police officers and firefighters from Lwówek County, were also on site.)
The operation ended on January 14. What was found? The divers retrieved three crates of ammunition and around one hundred individual rounds of ammunition. Everything was secured by the police. The services will now investigate where the “treasures” came from and how they ended up in Lake Pilchowickie.
