The discovery in Lake Pilchowickie caused a stir among the services and the public. A routine verification of sonar signals conducted on 15 December revealed submerged vehicles.
While examining them, Marcel Korkuś came across an unexpected find. Besides the cars, crates bearing military markings were discovered underwater; their contents turned out to be modern ammunition of various calibers.
– A working hypothesis – he writes on social media Marcel Korkuś. – It is possible that these are crates of ammunition that were stolen from the US military in Poland in 2023. This, however, requires further investigation. Finally, I also recovered a rifle. Its condition, as well as the fact that the reservoir had recently been drained, rule out the possibility that it had been underwater since World War II – the diver added.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, in addition to the police, the Military Police and combat divers from Świnoujście joined the operation, underscoring the significance of the discovery and the potential danger it may pose.
