On November 27, 2025, the Court of Appeal in Wrocław handed down a final sentence of imprisonment, conditionally suspended, to a 75-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra charged with defrauding her 89-year-old neighbor.
The investigation was conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra. The aforementioned woman was charged under Article 286 § 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 94 § 1 of the Criminal Code.
It was established that, between July 13, 2021, and October 10, 2021, acting for financial gain, the convicted woman caused her 89-year-old neighbor to dispose of her property unfavorably, in the total amount of more than PLN 660,000.
While maintaining a neighborly relationship with the victim, the woman determined what assets her neighbor possessed and learned about her family situation. She knew that the woman had no children. She also knew that, due to her mental state at the time, the victim was helpless and susceptible to influence, and that she was unable to fully understand the significance of a legal act such as drawing up a will.
As a result of her deceitful actions, the convicted woman deprived her 89-year-old neighbor of all her assets, namely her apartment and her life savings.
The woman did not admit to committing the alleged offense. She had no previous criminal record.
The judgment issued in this case is now final.
