The site is located at the municipal market on Jeleniogórska Street in Bolesławiec, by the so-called link road toward Willowa Street. It currently contains graffiti-covered walls, a car park and an embankment.
During the December session Piotr Roman suggested that a facility could be built on the site to serve both as a shelter and a clinic. The idea is for the building to be used continuously rather than stand empty, while being able to serve as a shelter if necessary.
The president mentioned that he had discussed the matter with the director of St. Luke’s Hospital, Kamil Barczyk:
The area currently occupied by the rear of the market on Jeleniogórska Street—that is, the car park often used for hitting tennis balls, and the car park until recently used by the municipal tennis club, along with the embankment there—would be entirely allocated for the construction of a facility that would function both as a shelter and a clinic.
According to the president, such a facility could also help ease the hospital’s current lack of space, provided that the operation of the market is not disrupted.
Czy na targowisku powinien powstać schron i przychodnia?
As Piotr Roman emphasizes, the market is too important to the residents of Bolesławiec to restrict it in any way. As he noted, a building of this kind was initially planned closer to the hospital, on its left-hand side, but ultimately a solution was found in which the facility would be built on the site of the current market.
The facility could be reached via a main road from Leśna Street and a narrow road used both by ambulances and by people selling goods at the market. It would also be possible to create an underground or elevated link providing a direct connection to the hospital.
What do you think of the idea? We invite you to join the discussion.
