For years, St. Luke’s County Hospital in Bolesławiec has consistently invested in the development of specialist outpatient care. As Bolesławiec County head Tomasz Gabrysiak emphasizes, specialist clinics have now become one of the pillars of the facility’s operation and its hallmark.
– Our clinics already provide more than 120,000 consultations annually. This makes us one of the most dynamic centers of this kind in Lower Silesia, and perhaps even one of the most important in the country – the county head points out, Tomasz Gabrysiak.
In response to patients’ growing needs and the hospital’s space limitations, the county government, together with the facility’s management, decided to develop clinics outside the main site. In 2024, the first such location was opened on Starzyńskiego Street, and this year Bolesławiec County purchased from the city of Bolesławiec the building of a former primary healthcare clinic on 1 Maja Street.
After a thorough renovation, the building was adapted to the needs of modern specialist clinics. – For several months now, patients have primarily been able to use the urology clinics here, as well as the newly opened pain-management clinic – says Tomasz Gabrysiak.
As Marek Stefanik of St. Luke’s Hospital explains, the new clinic was designed with patients’ comfort and safety in mind. – We wanted to create a place in Bolesławiec dedicated to men’s health, where city and county residents could conveniently receive help from specialists – emphasizes Marek Stefanik.
The facility on 1 Maja Street has eight doctors’ offices and six procedure rooms. The urology clinic alone is staffed by ten specialist doctors, which has significantly shortened the waiting time for appointments. – Patients currently wait less than four weeks for a specialist consultation. Our goal is to reduce this time to two or three weeks – Stefanik adds.
The new location also made it possible to launch an NFZ-contracted pain-management clinic, a rare service in the region. – There is no similar clinic in the immediate area. This is an important form of support for patients with chronic pain, who often remain without effective assistance – a hospital representative points out.
Diagnostic infrastructure is also being developed. An MRI facility has been operating at the clinic on Starzyńskiego Street since the beginning of the year, allowing patients to undergo specialist examinations outside the hospital grounds as well.
County authorities and the hospital management announce further investments. Plans include the construction of a modern specialist clinic in Bolesławiec. – I hope that within the next two years a facility will be built that will provide patients with even better treatment conditions and access to specialists – concludes county head Tomasz Gabrysiak.
