On Tuesday, December 16, before 5:00 a.m., a fire broke out in a residential building on Włókiennicza Street in Lubań. The fire started in the attic and spread to the roof of the house.

We received video from the scene from a reader:

As reported by eluban.pl:

The residents were asleep when the fire began to spread. They were awakened by their dog, which sensed the danger and began barking loudly. Its reaction probably prevented a tragedy; four people left the house before the firefighters arrived.

When the first crews from JRG Lubań arrived at the scene, the attic was already burning, and flames were emerging around the chimney onto the building’s roof. OSP units from Siekierczyn, Radostów, Szyszkowa and Leśna subsequently joined the operation.

Fortunately, no one was injured. As the Lubań news service notes, the fire may have been caused by soot igniting in a leaking chimney flue.
