On 4 December 2025, the District Court in Lwówek Śląski sentenced a 46-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man from Mirsk to 8 months’ imprisonment and a 10-year ban on owning any animals. The reason? Exceptionally cruel abuse of two mixed-breed dogs. – The court also ordered the forfeiture of the dog they had abused – explains Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, press spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
The proceedings in this case were conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lwówek Śląski. The prosecutor:
From a day in 2024 that could not be determined more precisely until July 2024, the perpetrators—acting jointly and in agreement—abused these domestic animals.
And adds: – They hit them on the head, threw them against a wall and kicked them.
It was also established that the defendants kept the domestic animals in improper living conditions. Investigators: – For many hours each day, the dogs were kept in a cage, which prevented them from maintaining a natural body position. They were also in a state of gross neglect, and the defendants failed to provide them with veterinary care.
The perpetrators did not admit to committing the offence of which they were accused.
The man had already been convicted by the courts several times.
The ruling is not final.
