On Tuesday, inspectors from the Wrocław branch of the Lower Silesian Road Transport Inspection stopped a combination of vehicles belonging to a domestic carrier transporting waste for inspection on the A4 motorway. ITD:

At the very beginning of the inspection, it emerged that the driver did not have the mandatory extract from the authorisation to practise the profession of road transport operator. For this violation, administrative proceedings will be initiated against the company and the transport manager, with serious fines possible.

The most serious irregularities were found in the cargo itself. The inspectors said: “According to the waste transfer document in the BDO system (Database of Products and Packaging and Waste Management), the driver was supposed to be transporting mineral waste—mainly sand and stones.

The inspection showed, however, that the trailer contained... alternative fuel (classified as combustible waste).

ITD explains:

This discrepancy may indicate an attempt to trade in waste illegally. In addition, analysis of data from the driver’s card and GPS geolocation confirmed that the loading location indicated in the BDO system did not correspond to the vehicle’s actual locations.

The result? Inspectors from the environmental crime-fighting department of the Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection were called to the scene, and the vehicle and driver were handed over to them for further clarification.
