In a letter sent to the editorial office on November 10, the day before the premiere of the film “Virtue and Body: How a Monk Lost His Reputation and Job at a Piarist School in Bolesławiec”, the order demanded that photos showing the building of the Piarist school in Bolesławiec, as well as its name, be removed from four specific articles published between May and October.

The Piarists also expected us to stop publishing further material linking the order with the Piarist father concerned in the aforementioned articles. We were given seven days to comply with the demands.

Interestingly, the four-page document also stated that the monks who authored the notice do not consent to its contents being disclosed. In short, they do not want you to be able to see the letter yourselves.

We did not comply with the Piarists’ demands. We know nothing about any further steps they may have taken—the Polish Province of the Piarist Order did not contact the editorial office again after the film was published on November 11.
