The incident occurred on 30 November in one of the apartments in Lwówek Śląski. Officers:

The 32-year-old man turned on the valve of a gas cylinder, causing gas to escape and creating a dangerous explosive mixture.

Police determined that this posed a real threat to the lives and health of many people. During the intervention, the man also allegedly threatened his mother and a paramedic. Due to the high risk of an explosion, 28 residents of the building had to be evacuated.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

The 32-year-old was detained by police officers from Lwówek Śląski and, after medical examinations, placed in a police cell. He was charged with offences carrying a sentence of up to 8 years in prison.

Moreover, at the prosecutor’s request, the District Court in Lwówek Śląski ordered three months of pre-trial detention for the man. The suspect has already been taken to a remand centre.
