During the Bolesławiec Days, you will be able to listen to live blues completely free of charge at another “Blues Night in Bolesławiec” concert.

This year’s edition will feature: “Mercedes Band” – returning to the music scene after many years, “20 mil od miasta” – a young band from Warsaw, “Sun Makers” – blues musicians from Poznań, as well as guests from Germany – “Elch Band”. The main attraction of the evening will be “Chłopaki z Ferajny” with charismatic vocalist Maciej Tylenda, guitarist Rafał “Łąka” Wiese, and the duo from the band Sumptuastic – Wojtek Szajwaj (guitar) and Tomek Bubieńczyk (drums).

Several years ago, the idea of organizing blues nights came to the vocalist of “Chłopaki z Ferajny,” Maciej Tylenda. At first, these were small gatherings of friends held twice a year, only during holiday breaks (that was the only time the friends returned to Bolesławiec). Two years ago, Maciej, together with his colleagues Dariusz Uściński and Jan Dudek, decided to promote their idea somewhat and, after several joint rehearsals, organized a concert at “Concordia.” The event, which was supposed to be an intimate gathering of a dozen or so friends, turned into a brilliantly received concert by three bands for more than 300 spectators. The organizers received so much positive feedback that they decided to organize “Blues Night In Bolesławiec” again in 2010.

Due to the considerable interest in the event, the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre and the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre joined the organization of the next blues night at the request of the event’s initiators.

“Without the help of these institutions, we would not have been able to shoulder the burden of organizing the event,” says initiator Maciej Tylenda. “Since our main goal is to keep admission free for everyone interested, we have no budget. Fortunately, our idea has met with great interest from supportive people,” the vocalist concludes.

This year, the “Blues Night in Bolesławiec” concert will inaugurate the Bolesławiec Days celebrations while remaining a separate musical event. “Thanks to the support of BOK-MCC, this year’s blues night will take place in the very centre of the city, at Piłsudski Square,” says event organizer Dariusz Uściński. “Every year we experiment with the concert venue because we are looking for the optimal solution—a place and date that we will be able to establish permanently for Blues Night In Bolesławiec.”

The concert will take place on Thursday, 16 June. It will begin at 16:00 and last until 22:00. Admission is free.
