Residents complain that despite petitions, requests and letters sent to the municipality, officials are not responding and are doing nothing to improve the situation on the access road to their homes. After it was reinforced in spring 2025, as the residents write, without drainage, the road became practically impassable in autumn and winter.
“Despite the petitions submitted, the municipality’s only action was to temporarily spread a small amount of crushed stone,” write the residents of Rakowice. “We have now been informed that there are no funds to lay asphalt this year, which is highly unsatisfactory,” they add.
The residents emphasize that the road’s disastrous condition makes it impossible for children to travel safely to school, while cars have difficulty passing because of deep potholes that cause vehicle damage. Some residents, due to the lack of a hardened road surface, are forced to use a meadow as an alternative route. The lack of lighting is an additional problem, creating a danger for pedestrians, especially after dark.
“One of the officials told us that since we built our homes on a swamp, we have what we have,” inform the residents, outraged by the official’s response.
Eight days ago, we contacted the municipality in this matter with a request for comment and official explanations that could clarify the situation. We have not received a response to this day. Although Wójt Andrzej Janiec responded very quickly to our email and contacted us by phone. We know that he intends to meet with the residents of Rakowice regarding this matter.
