On 18 November, the District Court in Lubin issued a judgment against Mirosław D., who was charged with committing 198 offenses. It was established that between February and November 2017, through various transport companies, the man brought waste from Germany, Austria and the United Kingdom and ordered it to be stored on the premises of companies in Kłopotów near Lubin and at a company in Bytom. Investigators:

Each shipment contained approximately 20 to 24 tonnes of waste, from which the accused earned approximately PLN 3,000 per shipment.

Verdict

The District Court in Lubin sentenced Mirosław D. to 2 years and 6 months in prison, imposed a fine of PLN 5,000, and ordered the forfeiture of the benefit gained from the offenses attributed to him – PLN 521,345.82.

The Court also ordered the accused to pay PLN 20,000 to the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and imposed a penal measure consisting, among other things, of a ban on conducting any business activity related to the collection, transportation, storage, depositing and processing of waste and secondary raw materials, as well as any other form of waste trading.

D. was also prohibited from holding important positions connected with such activity, for a period of up to seven years.
