Police officers arrested a 36-year-old resident of Karkonosze County suspected of making and possessing a primitive explosive device that could have endangered the lives or health of many people or caused extensive property damage.

The incident occurred around midnight during the night of November 10–11, 2025, in one of the localities in the Stara Kamienica municipality. – As police officers established, the perpetrator left a cardboard box on an access road to one of the properties, approximately 10 metres from a residential building. Inside was a primitive explosive device. He then set it on fire, causing an explosion – explains Sub-Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer of the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police Headquarters. – Through his actions, he created a real threat to the lives or health of many people and to property on a large scale.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident, but the consequences of such irresponsible conduct could have been tragic.

Police officers were immediately notified of the incident and began intensive efforts to establish all the circumstances of the dangerous incident and arrest those responsible. Thanks to their swift action and effective operational work, officers arrested within just a few hours a 36-year-old resident of Karkonosze County connected with the incident.
The man was taken into police custody.

Spokesperson: – During the proceedings, officers secured evidence allowing charges to be brought against the suspect. On November 12, 2025, he was taken to the District Prosecutor's Office in Jelenia Góra, where he was charged with possessing and making a primitive explosive device that could have endangered the lives or health of many people or caused extensive property damage.

The man faces up to 8 years in prison for the crime.
Police officers remind the public that any activities involving the manufacture, possession or ignition of pyrotechnic materials outside the conditions provided for by law pose a serious threat to people's lives and health. Such conduct will always be firmly prosecuted.
