Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław and uniformed officers of the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit, conducting joint operations aimed at combating the trafficking of illegal goods, selected a lorry for inspection near Zgorzelec.

The vehicle contained two foreign nationals, Belarusian citizens—the driver and a passenger. KAS:

They were travelling from Spain. They did not admit to transporting legally prohibited substances.

During the vehicle inspection, Customs and Tax Service officers found structural modifications to the floor of the vehicle’s cargo area—two compartments had been concealed with bolted metal sheets. After opening them, they found 10 bags containing nearly 5 kg of marijuana in the first compartment. The second compartment contained 16 packages of psychotropic medicines.

The seized drugs were worth more than PLN 244,000.

Following the discovery of the prohibited substances, the driver and passenger were detained. The suspects were remanded in custody by the court for three months.
