A dramatic incident occurred on the night of November 4, 2025, in Złotoryja County. A young soldier of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment was taken to hospital with extensive burns. His condition was described as very serious. The man died in hospital.
As we have established, the soldier, who was in his twenties, did not set himself on fire on the premises of the military unit, but outside it. A passing driver noticed the man in flames and began extinguishing him with a jacket. The soldier reportedly suffered burns covering more than 80 percent of his body.
The relevant services are investigating the matter. The military has a procedure for clarifying this type of incident, which may include both an analysis of the soldier’s mental state and an assessment of the actions of his superiors.
