The incident occurred on 24 October 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m. During a patrol on one of the streets in Szklarska Poręba, police officers noticed a Volkswagen whose driver, upon seeing the police car, abruptly left the public road and parked. This behaviour aroused the officers’ suspicions, so they decided to check the driver.
During the procedure, it turned out that the 41-year-old man did not have a driving licence, and his behaviour indicated that he might be under the influence of drugs. A drug test confirmed the officers’ suspicions. During the check, the officers also found methamphetamine on him.
As a result of further activities, this time in the detained man’s apartment, the officers found more than 800 rounds of ammunition of various calibres and two bags of a substance resembling gunpowder.
The man was detained and taken to police custody, and at the prosecutor’s office he was charged.
The 41-year-old will stand trial for possession of drugs, illegal possession of ammunition and gunpowder, and driving without a licence. If further tests confirm that he was driving under the influence of drugs, he will also be charged with that offence. He could face up to 8 years in prison.
Police remind the public that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a criminal offence that can have tragic consequences. Anyone who chooses to get behind the wheel in such a state endangers not only themselves but also other road users.
