As Krzysztof Basiak, President of the Management Board, emphasizes, this is a major step toward safer waste management, better protection of the health of employees operating the garbage trucks, and the safety of bystanders. The daily work of MZGK crews takes place in difficult conditions, with heavy road traffic, changing weather, and direct contact with waste. Garbage trucks move among pedestrians and other vehicles, which is why safety remains a priority.
The company assures that footage from the cameras may be used exclusively for monitoring purposes. Only authorized employees have access to it, and the data is properly secured. This is intended to guarantee residents’ privacy and minimize the risk of abuse.
If the pilot project is successful, garbage trucks with AI cameras may soon become standard in Bolesławiec. This is an example of how properly implemented new technologies can not only support recycling but also improve workplace safety and the safety of everyday life in public spaces.
