“Senior citizens are a treasure trove of life, whose values and experience are the foundation of our community. Every smile, every story is a lesson in respect and wisdom for us, which we carry in our hearts”. These words capture the spirit of an exceptional event that took place at noon on Wednesday, 22 October, in the ‘Parkowy Dwór’ hall in Gościszów. The Senior Citizens’ Day celebration, organised by the Municipal and Communal Social Welfare Centre in Nowogrodziec, brought together senior citizens from the Day Care Centre in Nowogrodziec and the ‘Głos Gościszowa’ Senior Citizens’ Club.

The gathering took place in an exceptionally warm atmosphere. Refreshments were prepared for the participants, and after the meal came time for everyone to enjoy live music together. The senior citizens gladly took to the dance floor, showing that energy and the joy of life have no age limit.

One of the day’s most memorable moments was the performance by one of the senior women, who humorously and with stage charm portrayed the unforgettable Violetta Villas, earning thunderous applause and genuine smiles from the audience.

The following attended the Senior Citizens’ Day celebration: Mayor of Nowogrodziec – Joanna Świder, Head of the Municipal and Communal Social Welfare Centre – Alicja Smolińska, Head of the Day Care Centre – Anna Lityńska, Director of the Communal Centre for Culture and Sport – Agata Kleszczyńska and Municipal Council members – Jan Radziński and Tadeusz Karasiewicz. The words of recognition and wishes addressed to the participants emphasised how important it is to create opportunities for the integration and activity of older people.

Senior Citizens’ Day in Gościszów once again proved that community and joy can bring people together regardless of age. The gathering at ‘Parkowy Dwór’ left participants with much warmth, gratitude and emotion in their hearts.
