Police officers, while patrolling the roads in the Pielgrzymka municipality, stopped a delivery van for inspection. – A 69-year-old resident of Złotoryja County was behind the wheel. The smell in the vehicle’s cabin and the man’s behaviour indicated that he might be clearly under the influence of alcohol – reports Sub-Commissioner Dominika Kwakszys, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja. – A breathalyser test confirmed the officers’ suspicions. The man had over 2‰ of alcohol in his exhaled breath.
The result? The spokesperson says: – For the offence of driving a vehicle while intoxicated, he lost his driving licence, and the car in which he had been travelling was towed to a police car park.
What is more, the man’s blood was collected for further tests. Proceedings are under way in the case, which will ultimately be heard in court.
The 69-year-old faces:
- up to 3 years’ imprisonment,
- a fine of several thousand złoty,
- a driving ban for a period of not less than 3 years, as well as the forfeiture of the car or its equivalent value.
