The incident occurred on October 15, at approximately 5:15 p.m. Firefighters from Osiecznica were dispatched to a tree fire in their town.
The danger was eliminated; fortunately, no one was injured.
Firefighters from the following units took part in the operation:
- OSP Osiecznica
- OSP Parowa.
Tree fires can be very dangerous:
- risk of fire spreading:
- A burning tree can easily ignite neighboring trees, bushes, grass, or buildings.
- In dry conditions and wind, the fire can spread rapidly – a large forest or meadow fire can develop from a single tree.
- toxic smoke:
- Burning bark, leaves, and resin releases large amounts of smoke and gases that are toxic.
- Inhaling smoke can lead to suffocation, carbon monoxide poisoning, or irritation of the respiratory tract.
- falling branches and trunks:
- A burning tree loses its structural integrity – branches or even the entire trunk may collapse.
- This poses a threat to firefighters and bystanders, as well as property (cars, power lines, and buildings).
- risk of infrastructure catching fire:
- The fire may reach power cables, wooden fences, or farm buildings.
- Near roads, smoke reduces visibility, which can lead to accidents.
- serious danger:
- Therefore, even when a report concerns “only a tree,” firefighters respond quickly – a fire can develop within minutes, especially in dry air and wind.
