Priest Jarosiewicz was transferred from Bolesławiec to Węgliniec in 2023. In September 2025, the Bishop of Legnica again decided the priest’s fate in connection with church proceedings concerning suspected irregularities at the parish in Bolesławiec. And removed him from the parish in Węgliniec.
– Priest Jarosiewicz remains the parish priest, but he was removed to a place where he will wait for the proceedings to conclude – Bishop’s spokesman Rev. Waldemar Wesołowski said on September 26. The spokesman did not want to disclose where the removed priest was supposed to stay. The bishop delegated the dean from Nowogrodziec to serve as a substitute in Węgliniec.
Three days later, a reader wrote to the editorial office:
The saga involving Priest Jarosiewicz continues. Since a priest from Nowogrodziec has to serve in Węgliniec, on Sunday (September 28 – ed.) he presumably had to find a replacement for himself in his own parish. And so Priest Jarosiewicz celebrated Masses in Nowogrodziec (at St. Nicholas Church). Parishioners – those who knew it was him, because he did not introduce himself – were not delighted. The whole situation does not serve the Church. The problem cannot be shifted around the diocese forever.

We called the parish in Nowogrodziec to confirm this, but the information turned out to be a secret. The person who answered the phone referred us to the Curia. We therefore wrote again to spokesman Wesołowski.
– I do not know whether he celebrated Masses or not (in Nowogrodziec – ed.); I have no such information. You have to ask the parish priests of those parishes – Bishop’s spokesman Rev. Waldemar Wesołowski told istotne.pl. – Father Andrzej is not prohibited from celebrating Mass or carrying out pastoral ministry outside the parish in Węgliniec; this has not been restricted. The decision of the Bishop of Legnica concerning his removal from the parish in Węgliniec applies to ministry and residence in that place, meaning the Węgliniec parish, until the canonical proceedings conclude – the spokesman added, without addressing the information that the faithful were unhappy with such arrangements.
A parishioner’s appeal to the Bishop of Legnica
Another embittered parishioner from Węgliniec also wrote to the editorial office. He had contacted the Bishop of Legnica (he asked to remain anonymous in this report, but signed the letter to the bishop). The parishioner from Węgliniec informed us that he had asked Bishop Andrzej Siemieniewski for explanations. In the letter, he raised the issue of the parish’s lack of financial transparency and asked why Priest Jarosiewicz was being treated preferentially. He also demanded transparency in the Church’s actions and a response from the Curia in order to restore the faithful’s trust.
Below are excerpts from the letter sent to the Curia in Legnica.
Your Excellency,
Once again, as a parishioner in Węgliniec, I am forced to ask for an explanation of the situation concerning Rev. Andrzej Jarosiewicz.
Despite losing the court case in Bolesławiec, the scandals publicized by the media, numerous complaints submitted by parishioners to the Curia and the Episcopate, as well as the formal “removal from ministry,” Rev. Jarosiewicz is still listed as the parish priest of our parish. This state of affairs causes serious scandal and a sense of impunity. My questions are as follows:
Is the bishop infallible and are his decisions absolute, given that despite so many reports and facts, Rev. Jarosiewicz formally remains the parish priest? (...)
Are there undisclosed reasons why Rev. Jarosiewicz remains untouchable? (...)
For two years, money has been collected in our parish “for investments and modernization” (...) In accordance with the Code of Canon Law (Canon 1287 §1), the administrator of church property is obliged to present such a report to the faithful every year (there is no such report either on the parish website or on the notice board). Why is this obligation being ignored (...)?
When can the faithful of our parish expect a new parish priest to be appointed (...)?
Your Excellency, the faithful of the parish have the right to transparency, honesty and a pastor who will be an example rather than a source of shame. The Curia’s silence and lack of response only deepens the crisis of trust in the Church.
I expect a clear answer on the matters mentioned above.
