Equality March in Görlitz-Zgorzelec: Hundreds attend peaceful event

Hundreds of people took part in the Equality March, known in German as CSD Pride, which passed through Görlitz and Zgorzelec on Saturday. The event took place in an atmosphere of joy and solidarity, and thanks to the effective work of the German police, there were no clashes with fascist and far-right groups.

The march began on the German side of the border, and both local residents and visitors from other cities in Poland and Germany took part in the colorful and lively procession. Participants carried rainbow flags and banners with messages supporting equality, and enjoyed music, creating a colorful and positive atmosphere.

Although far-right groups also appeared in Görlitz at the same time, the German police ensured that their routes did not cross those of the Equality March. As a result, there were no encounters or confrontations anywhere, and the demonstration proceeded without incident.

The presence of the security services was noticeable; they effectively isolated the counterprotesters, allowing march participants to fully enjoy the event.

TVN24 was the only Polish media outlet to cover the march live, preparing several live broadcasts as well as the main report for the “Fakty po południu” program. Among local news portals, istotne.pl was present on site, documenting the event on both sides of the border.

The organizers emphasized that the aim of the march was not only to demonstrate equality and solidarity, but also to break down borders—both geographical and mental. The participation of people from Poland and Germany was intended to show that values such as tolerance and mutual respect are shared across borders.
