– The Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica received a report stating that, during a service, a drunk and half-naked man entered the church, walked its entire length and lay down in front of the altar – reports Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters. – When worshippers tried to escort him out, he began shouting obscenities and offending the religious feelings of those gathered. Eventually, they managed to get him out of the church, but the man left the scene.
Interestingly, the deputy duty officer of the Legnica unit played a key role in this situation. The spokesperson said: – Based on the description provided and the man's distinctive features, he quickly identified a potential suspect, checked him in police databases and immediately passed the information on to patrols in the field.
As a result, police began searching for the suspect and, after a short time, arrested the man near another church.
A breathalyzer test showed that the man had more than 2.5‰ of alcohol in his breath.
The arrested 35-year-old was taken to a police cell, and the court will decide what happens to him next. Police remind the public:
