The Ministry of Economy plans to implement the Central Register and Information on Business Activity system in July this year. “Before that happens, municipalities must verify the entries in the business activity register,” explains Tomasz Gabrysiak, acting head of the Department of Development and Promotion of the City at Bolesławiec City Hall. “And during the verification, it turns out, for example, that one of the entrepreneurs has been dead for a year. The problem is that no one filed an application to remove him from the register.”

It also happens that an entrepreneur has stopped conducting business activity but has not informed the office. All this caused the number of business entities to fall (in March this year, 3,306 entrepreneurs were listed in the register; now there are 3,183).

According to Karol Stasik, head of the Bolesławiec Business Association, the difficult market situation may be influencing this state of affairs. “In this respect, Bolesławiec is no different from other cities in Poland,” says the BTG president. “Poles are buying less and living more frugally. I think this is the main reason why the number of business entities has fallen.”
