At the end of November, we reported:

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Złotoryja was investigating the circumstances of an attempt to take his own life by a 13-year-old resident of the District Educational Centre in Jerzmanice-Zdrój on Thursday (21 November 2024). During the proceedings, it was established that the reason for the minor’s decision was abuse inflicted on him that day by one of the educators. These circumstances were confirmed by surveillance recordings. The man was detained on 25 November 2024.

That same month, we also reported that 60-year-old Jacek T. was charged that same day with the fact that on 21 November 2024, while performing his duties as an educator, he physically and psychologically abused a 13-year-old resident who was in a permanent relationship of dependence on him and was helpless due to his age and psychological condition. During four separate incidents, he hit him with an open hand and fist and kicked him in the head and chest, pulled at his clothes and dragged him across the floor, and humiliated him by ordering him to sit on the floor of a publicly accessible corridor. As a result, the victim attempted to take his own life by trying to hang himself in a shower room.

In December, investigators reported that another educator at the centre, 58-year-old Mirosław W., had been charged with repeatedly hitting the victim and pulling him by his clothes on 18 November 2024. The latter suffered bodily injuries resulting in impaired health for less than seven days.

Investigation ongoing

That is not the end of the matter. As lwowecki.info reports today:

Investigators carefully reviewed surveillance recordings from the months preceding the dramatic event. They now explain that the cameras recorded how almost a month before the teenager’s suicide attempt, the boy was treated aggressively by another educator – 42-year-old Krzysztof S., who has also already been charged. – The educator grabbed the boy by the arm and leg, pulled him out of bed, dragged him across the room and struck him with an open hand around the head; afterwards, he threw him onto the bed – Grażyna Szuszkiewicz, Deputy District Prosecutor in Legnica, told TVN24.Grażyna Szuszkiewicz.

We will return to this subject.
