Update

As reported by the SOK Headquarters:

On the last day of the summer holidays, the duty officer on shift at the Railway Security Guard Post in Jelenia Góra was informed by an employee of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. that a passenger train had been pelted with stones by unknown perpetrators. The driver applied the emergency brake, stopping the train on the railway line.

The swift response of the Jelenia Góra Railway Security Guard officers led to the apprehension of the underage perpetrators who had pelted a Koleje Dolnośląskie train. Their actions resulted in a serious incident. One of the stones thrown struck the front windscreen of the railcar. The apprehended perpetrators were a 12-year-old girl and two boys aged 12 and 13. They are all residents of Lwówek County.

Further proceedings are being conducted by officers of the County Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski. The case is serious and will be referred to family court. Preliminary losses have been estimated at approximately PLN 30,000.


The incident occurred on the last day of the summer holidays. The 12-year-old girl, the 12-year-old boy and their friend who was a year older decided to throw stones at the train. As reported by lwowecki.info :

(…) they stood on a railway viaduct near the village of Gajówka, on the Jelenia Góra–Gryfów Śląski railway line. It is not yet known whose idea it was, but it was quickly taken up. Seeing a Koleje Dolnośląskie train approaching, the children decided to attract the driver's attention.

One of the stones struck the railcar's front windscreen. The driver braked. The train stopped in the middle of nowhere.

The children fled the scene, but they were tracked down by Railway Security Guard officers. All three perpetrators are residents of Lwówek County.

The children immobilised the train for several hours, causing losses worth at least PLN 30,000. The case will probably end up in family court.
