The caller was the mother, whose 1.5-month-old daughter had accidentally been left inside a car parked in full sunlight, while the high temperatures were increasing the risk to the child’s health with every passing moment. The police officers had no doubts: swift and decisive intervention was necessary.
The Bolesławiec officers used a window breaker to open the vehicle’s door as quickly as possible. After freeing the child, the officers took the mother and child to a shaded place, where they assessed the infant’s condition.
Fortunately, the entire incident ended well—the girl had not been inside the hot car for too long, and the officers’ quick response saved her from potentially tragic consequences.
This incident is another reminder of how important the vigilance and responsibility of caregivers are. Summer is drawing to a close, but a heat wave can take us by surprise even at the end of August. In such a situation, every minute counts—a car locked in the sun heats up extremely quickly, creating a deadly threat not only to children but also to seniors and animals. If we witness a similar situation, we should react immediately—a life may depend on a few seconds of a courageous decision.
