A Reader called us and drew attention to the renovation of Wróblewski Street in Bolesławiec, currently under way:
The workers are replacing asphalt that was in very good condition.
And asked why no one was dealing with nearby Mostowa Street. (That one is a county road).
He also added that “Wróblewski Street was in truly perfect condition.”
Magdalena Szumiata, press spokesperson for the Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, explains:
The renovation is being carried out because of the poor condition of the road surface and numerous sunken sewer manholes.
And she adds: – There were ruts and damage in the road surface, which we had to repair on an ongoing basis with cold asphalt.
She also stresses: – We monitor national roads every day. We observed that the manholes were sinking increasingly deeper and, in places, had begun to fall below the proper level. This situation could have posed a risk to traffic safety or caused damage to vehicles.
She also points out:
It is worth noting that the sunken manholes generated increased noise. Therefore, we undertook renovation work on national road DK94, along a 355-metre section. First, the roadway will be renovated, and then the manholes will be adjusted. I would also add that adjusting the manholes is only possible on an even surface without depressions or damage.
When will the work be finished?
Magdalena Szumiata: – The completion date largely depends on weather conditions. However, we plan to finish the work before 1 September this year in order to avoid congestion caused by increased school traffic.
We asked the District Road Authority about Mostowa Street. We still have not received a response.
