An independent jury awarded prizes to children who attend classes at the BOK-MCC studio run by Edyta Orlińska. In their age category, among works in three-dimensional form, 14-year-old Patrycja Walczak won second place for her work “King of the Penguins”, while Justyna Deberny came third. “The ‘King of the Penguins’ was a large, impressive work,” says Orlińska. “In my opinion, what caught the jury’s attention was the sculpture’s interesting form. Justyna’s work drew attention with its colour and interesting idea.”
In another art competition, “Mythical Creatures, Beings from Legends, Fairy Tales and… Dreams”, based on the work of surrealists, an honourable mention was awarded to Wiktor Borawski, the 11-year-old author of the work “Janus”. “Wiktor is exceptionally talented, creative, skilled with his hands and really handles clay well,” adds Edyta Orlińska.
Edyta Orlińska, who runs the studio at BOK-MCC, is a graduate of the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. The aim of the ceramics and sculpture studio is to learn ceramic techniques. Offering extensive opportunities for practical work, the studio allows participants to create ceramics freely, from modelling or throwing, through drying and glazing, to firing. Classes at the studio are intended to familiarise participants with the secrets of ceramic craft, develop sensitivity and imagination, encourage creative thinking, awaken a sense of aesthetics and develop the ability to work in a group. The studio’s classes follow an original programme focused mainly on the individual needs of its participants.
