Last Thursday, on the A4, a timber truck combination caught the attention of inspectors from the Legnica branch of the Lower Silesian ITD. Inspectorate: “At first glance, the vehicle appeared to be too tall and overloaded.
The measurement confirmed these suspicions—the vehicle combination was 4.29 metres high, which is 29 centimetres more than permitted by law. Even more serious violations were revealed during weighing. ITD: “The actual gross vehicle weight with the load was 55.6 tonnes, compared with the permitted weight of 40 tonnes. This means an excess of 15.6 tonnes. Excessive axle loads ranging from 1.8 to almost 3 tonnes were also found.
That was not the end of it. The carrier did not have a permit for the passage of a non-standard vehicle, which resulted in administrative proceedings being initiated. The inspection also revealed the trailer’s poor technical condition—operating fluid was leaking from the hydraulic device controlling the stakes and dripping directly onto the road.
The result? The authority said: “For this reason, the vehicle registration certificate was confiscated and further driving was prohibited. In addition to consequences for the carrier, administrative proceedings were also initiated against the person responsible for managing transport at the company.”
