On 7 August, the bodies of two men, a father and son, were found in one of the houses.
Initially, investigators assumed that the son may have been the attacker who later committed suicide.
According to unofficial information, there had been conflicts between the men. They were allegedly caused by the younger man's drug addiction. Neighbours claim that the father had unsuccessfully urged his son to seek treatment.
A forensic medical expert's report sheds new light on the case. Liliana Łukasiewicz, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor's Office in Legnica, confirmed in an interview with Radio Wrocław that the men had injured each other with the same knife found at the scene.
The father had incised and stab wounds to his neck and around his kidneys, while the son had six stab wounds to his chest. Both bled to death at the scene. Proceedings in the case are ongoing. Investigators want to determine who was the aggressor.
At the time of the tragedy, the younger man's elderly and ill mother was on the upper floor of the house. Because of her health, she has limited awareness.
“We know that the men often argued and abused alcohol. They lived together. We hope that the mechanism by which the injuries were inflicted, established during the autopsy, will answer the question of who was the aggressor in this case,” the prosecutor told Radio Wrocław.
An autopsy is scheduled to be carried out on Monday.
