The story reported on istotne.pl on August 30, 2026, was shown on Kanał ZERO Did the court mistake Edyta for another woman? She was convicted and has just been put behind bars, while the real thief may be free. The mother of three, Edyta Jadach, has insisted from the beginning that she was not the one who stole the perfume from a Rossmann drugstore in Lubań. However, the court found that the woman visible on the surveillance footage was her. As a result, the woman served a 15-day prison sentence.
Krzysztof Gwizdała’s investigation inspired and helped make it possible for a professional expert analysis to be prepared. After conducting the investigation, Angelika Posacka, Edyta’s lawyer, decided to commission an analysis that will be used in court.
Having the surveillance footage showing the woman committing the theft, Istotne.pl editor Krzysztof Gwizdała was unable to determine, even after viewing the material repeatedly, that the woman was Edyta Jadach. His doubts concerned both the face and body shape. The woman in the footage appeared to have a different figure, including different leg proportions, than Edyta in photographs from that period.
Krzysztof Gwizdała also compared the faces using a special computer tool. The system found no similarity between Edyta’s face and the face of the woman recorded by the surveillance camera. However, it showed a match with the face of a woman whose image Edyta had found. Although this result was not evidence admissible in court and cannot replace an expert opinion, it showed that the identification was not as obvious as the court’s reasoning suggested.
The guests on Przemysław Talkowski’s program included: Edyta Jadach; Kamil Matysiak, Ms Jadach’s fiancé; Dr Maciej Mitera, a judge; Dariusz Loranty, a former police officer; Angelika Posacka, a lawyer; and Krzysztof Gwizdała, editor-in-chief of Istotne.pl.
