The incident took place on Tuesday, July 29 this year. – During the night, officers from the Police Station in Leśna were carrying out official duties in Lubań County. While on duty, they noticed a motorcyclist riding toward them with a passenger. The officers decided to conduct a traffic check – reports Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer for the Lubań County Police Headquarters.

To that end, the officers activated their lights and siren, which – in accordance with applicable regulations – require the driver to stop the vehicle. The man reacted differently: he abandoned his passenger on the roadside and began to flee. The spokesperson:

During the escape, the motorcyclist traveled on roads in Lubań County and Zgorzelec County, where the officers eventually lost sight of him. After thoroughly checking the area and failing to regain visual contact, the police decided to return to the locality where the chase had begun.

There, they noticed the abandoned motorcycle passenger. The result? The officers’ suspicions regarding the driver’s identity were confirmed.

After some time, the officers arrested the suspect. The spokesperson: – During the conversation, the man denied riding the motorcycle; however, a vehicle registration certificate and keys were found on him during the search and secured as evidence.

A zip-lock bag containing five portions of methamphetamine was found in the man’s wallet. But that was not the end of his problems. A check of police databases confirmed that the 29-year-old also had a suspended driving licence.

On this basis, the suspect was detained and taken to hospital, where blood was drawn for toxicological testing. This is intended to establish whether he was riding the motorcycle under the influence of narcotic substances.

The court will now decide his fate. The 29-year-old faces up to five years in prison.
