Under the Influence, He Abused His Pregnant Partner and Threw a Knife at Her! “Toward Her Abdomen.” 47-Year-Old Arrested

At the request of the District Prosecutor in Lubań, the local District Court ordered pre-trial detention for a 47-year-old resident of Lubań in connection with the alleged offenses of physically and psychologically abusing his cohabiting partner and causing her grievous bodily harm.

The investigation established that, from 2022 onward, the perpetrator repeatedly insulted the victim using words commonly regarded as offensive and beat her on the head while under the influence of alcohol and psychotropic substances. Then, on July 11, 2025, during another domestic dispute, he threw a knife at his cohabiting partner, who was nine months pregnant, aiming toward her abdomen and causing a stab wound to that part of her body. The injury constituted an illness posing a real threat to the woman’s life. She was therefore immediately taken to hospital and underwent surgery. Doctors also managed to save the newborn.

The perpetrator was detained by officers of the Lubań County Police Headquarters.

After being brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lubań, he was charged with an offense classified under Article 156 § 1, point 2, of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Article 207 § 1 and Article 11 § 2 of the Penal Code. The offense is punishable by between 3 and 20 years’ imprisonment.

The suspect did not admit to committing the alleged crime. He gave an explanation, stating that he had intended to throw the knife into the sink but hit the victim instead.

He had previously been convicted by the courts numerous times. At present, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lubań has also filed an indictment against him in another case, in which he is accused of committing a robbery.

According to investigators’ findings, the attack took place last Friday, July 11 this year, in an apartment in Lubań. – The aggressor allegedly threw a knife toward the abdomen of his partner, who was nine months pregnant – explains Senior Sergeant Łukasz Porębski of the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters. – The injured 41-year-old woman, suffering from a stab wound, was immediately transported to hospital, where she was placed under specialist care.

Fortunately, thanks to the medics’ swift intervention, neither the mother’s nor the child’s life is in danger.

Police officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, together with a forensic technician, immediately began activities at the scene. They secured evidence, prepared photographic documentation and conducted an inspection.

As part of the investigation, police detained the woman’s 47-year-old partner. During their work, officers determined that at the time of the incident the man was visibly under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect was charged with causing grievous bodily harm, an offense punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

The Lubań court granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered three months of pre-trial detention for the perpetrator.
