The issue was brought to the attention of the Istotne.pl portal forum by a user posting under the nickname disappointed swimmer, who wrote: “Thanks to the director of the Bolesławiec swimming pool, the competitors who came to the March swimming competition held as part of the Open Bolesławiec Championships had quite a laugh. Although the competition organiser, namely the Mayor, had purchased time at the swimming pool owned by the city, the competition was held on only three lanes. The fourth was reserved for the public. An unprecedented situation on a national scale.” He added: “This time it went even further [chodzi o zawody kwietniowe – przyp. red.]. The competition was cancelled by the director of MOSiR. Let us thank MOSiR for caring about the sporting development of Bolesławiec residents.”

MOSiR head Dariusz Jośko explains that the March competition, which was supposed to last an hour, ran over time. – I had to react. I could not force out the people who were waiting to use the pool. That is why I decided to make one lane available to them, and we would finish the competition on three – the facility director explains. – I tried to reconcile these two things. It seemed to me that I had done so successfully. But, as it turned out, some people felt offended.

As Dariusz Jośko emphasises, situations of this kind had occurred before. – I do not want to expose either side, so we cancelled the April competition – says the MOSiR head. The next competitions will probably take place at the Orka swimming pool, which, according to Jośko, should solve the problem. – Holding swimming competitions at the new facility will certainly not cause such difficulties – he adds.
