Until recently, Marika was a lively, smiling thirteen-year-old. Everything changed suddenly, brutally and unexpectedly.

For two years, she had complained of headaches—initially rare, then increasingly frequent. In recent weeks, they had become a daily occurrence. Marika was constantly tired, pulsating veins appeared on her forehead, and painkillers helped for barely half an hour. For a long time, doctors attributed everything to stress, puberty, hormonal problems and the thyroid.

The truth was terrifying...

As her mother, however, I felt that something more serious was happening. After waiting six hours in the emergency department, we were sent home with paracetamol and No-Spa. I could not leave it at that. I arranged an MRI scan myself. The result confirmed our worst fears. The diagnosis was a blow that was difficult to recover from.

A 10-centimeter brain tumor in the left frontal lobe. A malignant cancer.

Within a few days, our lives changed completely. An ambulance took us to Katowice. On 29 April, doctors performed surgery during which they managed to remove the entire tumor. Unfortunately, the histopathology results left no doubt—the tumor was malignant.

Marika has already completed her first cycle of chemotherapy. She feels very unwell. She is suffering, but fighting with all her strength. There is still much ahead of us—further treatment, proton therapy in Krakow, specialist consultations and rehabilitation. Each of these stages involves enormous costs.

I am a single mother. I am fighting for my child’s life, and I know I cannot manage alone

Please help us. Proton therapy is our greatest chance, but also a tremendous financial burden. Therefore, please—help us in this fight.

Every donation, every shared piece of information, every kind word—each is a step closer to saving my daughter’s health and life.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who decides to support us.
