A Reader, a resident of Gromadka, asked us to publicize the case. “On Monday, 21 March, someone probably abandoned three small dogs near the Orlik sports field,” the man said. Since then, the four-legged animals had been wandering around the village. Local residents looked after them, bringing the dogs food and water.
The Reader stressed that municipal officials repeatedly passed the homeless animals on their way to work. “But none of them did anything about it,” he noted. “Residents of Gromadka also called the municipal office. There was no response.”
In a conversation with the Istotne.pl portal, Gromadka commune head Dariusz Pawliszczy said that the problem was reported only on Wednesday, 30 March. As it turned out, however, it was quickly resolved. “On Saturday, 2 April, a company from Wrocław will take these animals to a shelter. This will cost the commune’s budget PLN 3,000. The money could have been used to equip the fire brigade further or subsidize lunches for children in need,” the commune head said sarcastically, adding that he did not believe this was “a problem the media should deal with.”
