Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław, together with police officers from the Economic Crime Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Wałbrzych and the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, arrested five men suspected of involvement in issuing and trading fake VAT invoices. – The suspects put so-called blank invoices worth more than PLN 7.3 million into circulation, thereby understating their tax liabilities by no less than PLN 1.3 million – explains Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, press spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS. – KAS and the Police secured assets belonging to the suspects worth more than PLN 200,000.

Those arrested were brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Wałbrzych, where they were charged with tax fraud, invoice-related crimes and making this practice a permanent source of income.

They face up to 8 years in prison. The suspects were placed under police supervision and banned from leaving the country.

The arrests are the consequence of an investigation conducted since January 2025, in which a total of six people connected with the practice have so far been arrested (eight people have been charged with committing criminal and fiscal offences).

The proceedings involve multiple lines of inquiry and remain ongoing.
