The Catchment Management Authority in Lwówek Śląski, together with soldiers and local officials, has begun a large-scale operation to clean up the Bóbr River channel. Polish Waters: – The primary aim of the operation is to remove blockages made up of fallen trees, branches and shrubs that impede the free flow of water, creating a potential flood risk.

They add: – Accumulated blockages not only increase the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall, but also disrupt the river’s ecosystem. Removing fallen trees and other obstacles will strengthen flood protection, significantly improve the condition of the natural environment and restore the river to its natural course.

The operation is being conducted in close cooperation between the services and institutions involved to ensure maximum effectiveness. Soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces are supporting the work with heavy equipment and their experience in removing branches from river channels and adjacent areas. Polish Waters is supervising the operation from a hydrological perspective, while local authorities are coordinating logistics and communication with the public.

Polish Waters:

We encourage residents to report any dangerous areas along the Bóbr so that the work can cover all critical points. The measures being undertaken are another step toward better flood protection and care for the condition of rivers in the region. Only joint efforts can deliver lasting and effective results.
