The incident occurred at 4:00 a.m. in Szczytniki nad Kaczawą. As reported by the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica: – Police findings show that the 20-year-old Audi driver, failing to adjust his speed to the road conditions, crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a 19-year-old Honda driver coming from the opposite direction.
Unfortunately, both drivers were intoxicated. The 20-year-old had 1.5‰ of alcohol in his exhaled breath, while the 19-year-old had only slightly less—nearly 1.5‰.
That was not all. Officers: – As a result of the incident, the Audi passenger, who was also under the influence of alcohol, was transported to hospital.
Police conclude:
Both drivers lost their driving licences and will appear in court for driving while intoxicated and causing a road traffic hazard. They face severe consequences, including a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to 3 years, as well as a driving ban of up to 15 years.
They add: – We appeal for caution on the road and compliance with the regulations. Driving under the influence of alcohol poses a direct threat to the life and health of all road users.
