On 29 April 2008, during earthworks near a parking area at the entrance to motorway no. 63 from Klein-Winternheim, a buried male skeleton was found. Polish National Police Headquarters: – The examinations confirmed that the probable cause of the victim's death was head injuries inflicted with a blunt instrument.
It adds: – Remnants of clothing were found with the body, namely fragments of Big Star jeans and an XL Fruit of the Loom T-shirt.
Examinations of the clothing and isotopic analyses led to the conclusion that the man most likely came from Poland. At the time of his death, he may have been 35–42 years old and 171–180 cm tall. Criminal investigators:
The body had been at the burial site for approximately 10 years and had been placed there no earlier than 1994.
Our police explain: – The German side has provided photographs of the discovered clothing remnants and a reconstructed, presumed image of the man's face, asking for information that could help establish his identity.
