From Monday, 28 April, travelers in urgent situations can obtain a temporary passport on the spot. All they need is a valid airline ticket and an identity document.

As the Dolnośląski Urząd Wojewódzki explains: – The passport service point at Wrocław Airport is a response to the real needs of Lower Silesia residents and people traveling from our region. This solution, which has been successfully operating for two years at Warsaw Chopin Airport, has also proved effective in Kraków, Katowice and Gdańsk. In total, more than 34,000 temporary passports have been issued there.

– This will be the fifth passport service point at a Polish airport. More than 34,000 travelers have so far used the opportunity to obtain a temporary passport, and in Warsaw alone we have issued more than 26,000. For two years, these points have performed excellently, helping in urgent situations that can happen to anyone while traveling. I am pleased that, just before the holiday season, we are opening another point at the airport in Wrocław. This is a practical and real solution that improves the comfort of travel for Poles and shows that we respond to citizens’ needs quickly and effectively – said Tomasz Siemoniak, Minister of the Interior and Administration and coordinator of the special services.

A temporary passport is issued after identity and citizenship have been confirmed. The point is operated by employees of the Dolnośląski Urząd Wojewódzki in Wrocław.

– In Lower Silesia, we are doing everything possible to ensure that the administration is as close as possible to residents, including in sudden situations that are difficult to predict. Passports can be lost or damaged, or their expiry date can be overlooked just before departure. Now, thanks to the MSWiA point at Wrocław Airport, a temporary passport can be obtained quickly, making it possible to continue with the journey. This is an important addition to and strengthening of the dynamically developing network of passport service points in our voivodeship. Currently, residents of Lower Silesia can submit passport applications at 18 locations – emphasizes Anna Żabska, Lower Silesian Voivode.

The point operates in the passenger terminal, in the public area, near the airport information desk.

How does it work?

At the airport point, a temporary passport is issued after identity and citizenship have been confirmed, based on data available in the Passport Documents Register, the PESEL register and the Identity Cards Register. The photograph for the document is taken on site. The validity period of a temporary passport is adjusted individually to the situation and may range from 1 day to a maximum of 365 days.
