On 4 April, Border Guard officers and police officers began intensive checks throughout the Polish-German border area, aimed primarily at detecting and preventing the illegal migration of foreigners, as well as uncovering other cross-border crimes.

– Border Guard officers and police officers are carrying out checks both in the section secured by the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit and in the northern part of the Polish-German border, which is protected by the Morski Border Guard Unit – explains Second Lieutenant Paweł Biskupik of the Border Guard, press spokesperson for the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit. – The officers have focused on particularly high-risk locations and the main east-west transport routes, namely the A2 and A4 motorways. But they are also operating on border bridges in towns near the border and in the areas of former border crossings.

As the Border Guard explains, such action enables a rapid response to all incidents and threats. Second Lieutenant P. Biskupik of the Border Guard: – The presence of our officers primarily prevents illegal migration and cross-border crime, and also has a preventive effect.

And he announces: – This is only the beginning of joint operations, but it can be assumed that in spring the Border Guard officers and police officers in the Oder region may have a lot of work.

The Border Guard and the Police emphasize that operations of this kind are intended to prevent illegal migration and ensure public safety and order within the area of operational responsibility of the Nadodrzański and Morski Border Guard Units.
