One of the items on the agenda of the March session of the Bolesławiec County Council will be a vote on a draft resolution concerning the granting of a targeted grant to the Municipality of Bolesławiec. The matter concerns PLN 50,000 for the operation of the Local Passport Office in Bolesławiec. The justification for the document states:

The targeted grant provided by Bolesławiec County will contribute to increasing the availability of public services provided by the Local Passport Office to residents of the county.

The office explains:

The Municipality of Bolesławiec concluded an agreement with the Lower Silesian Voivode under which the parties expressed their intention to operate a Local Passport Office within the Municipality of Bolesławiec.

The Office’s purpose is to accept passport applications and issue passports. Under the aforementioned agreement, the Municipality of Bolesławiec undertook, among other things, to provide administrative and office support for the Office.

Due to residents of Bolesławiec County showing much greater-than-forecast interest in obtaining passports, the Municipality of Bolesławiec, in order to improve the Office’s operation and ensure optimal service for county residents, asked Bolesławiec County to co-finance this activity.

And concludes:

The grant provided by the County will be spent on the portion of the Office’s operating costs which, under the agreement, are borne by the Municipality of Bolesławiec. Pursuant to Section 48 of the Act of 1 October 2024 on the revenues of local government units, a local government unit may grant funding to other local government units to co-finance tasks they carry out.

The amount of funding is determined by resolution of the governing body of the local government unit granting the funding. Once the Bolesławiec County Council adopts the resolution in question, an agreement will be concluded between the Municipality of Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec County.

The councillors will decide at the next session.
