As reported by the Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways:

Since the beginning of this year, we have continued work related to removing the effects of the flood. By the end of June, we will complete nearly 200 more projects across Poland, worth more than PLN 17 million. In Lower Silesia, this involves 39 projects worth almost PLN 5 million. These will include repairing damaged road-lane elements and damaged surfaces, desilting ditches and culverts, cleaning stormwater drainage elements, and filling in losses in slopes, verges and reinforcements.

Where will the work be carried out and what will be done?

  • On DK35 between Mieroszów and Kowalowa, the damaged carriageway, verges, pavement and drainage will be repaired.
  • On DK3 in Piechowice, the undermined piers and damaged retaining wall on the bank of the river channel will be rebuilt.
  • On the A4 between Zgorzelec and Krzyżowa, the damaged service road will be repaired and drainage systems will be desilted.
  • On the S3 between Bolków and Kamienna Góra, collectors on the viaducts will be desilted, and the eroded earth embankment, verge and stormwater drainage will be repaired.
  • On the S3, near the Legnica Południe interchange, the undermined slope and viaduct supports will be repaired, and drainage ditches will be cleaned.
  • On DK8 between Dębowina and Bardo, the reactivated landslide will be secured.

The road authority is also carrying out larger investment projects: – Their aim will be both to fully remove the effects of the flood and to secure the existing infrastructure. It will be reconstructed so that it is more resistant to similar events that may occur in the future. Before construction begins on major investments, detailed documentation must be prepared and the necessary administrative decisions obtained. This guarantees that, once they begin, the works will be carried out properly. 

And adds: – In Lower Silesian Voivodeship, we will carry out a total of six projects worth approximately PLN 86.9 million on DK8, DK33 and the A4/S3.

What will be done?

The Wrocław GDDKiA:

We will expand DK33 in Żelazno, together with its intersection with voivodeship road No. 382. We will also expand a section of DK33 in Wilkanów and DK8 in the town of Bardo. In Wojcieszyce, we will reconstruct the drainage system of national road No. 3, and at the Legnica Południe interchange—where the A4 motorway and S3 expressway intersect—we will secure the road embankment. A new bridge will be built over the Kamienna Mała River along DK3 near Piechowice.

And concludes: – In total, in Opole, Lower Silesian and Lubusz Voivodeships, we plan to carry out 16 investment projects related to post-flood reconstruction, with a total value of almost PLN 434 million.
